Description
Piriform unguentarium. Wide flaring rim, slightly flat on top and pointed at outer face; slight undercutting. Cylindrical neck flaring upward.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: pale brown to reddish yellow; fine, somewhat granular but smooth break; rare, well sorted, tiny black bits at surface where visible, no prominent; faint micaceous sparkles at surface. Consistently fired hard, surface (1 mm) slightly more red than core. Spiral turning mark up neck.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 60% of rim and almost entire neck; second nonjoining sherd probably from upper body. Slight, sparse abrasion and rare erosion, with minor scratching across surface; somewhat worn breaks; uneven, thin film of encrustation across surfaces.
