Description
Oval platter. Flat floor; very low ring base with pointed resting surface but rounded on both face. Perhaps low curving walls.
Fabric, firing, surface
Pale brownish red, consistently fired. Very fine, hard fabric with smooth break. Uncommon small, dark, angular bits, many visible flattened on underside; rare tiny dark bits visible in break; faintly golden micaceous. Slip is slightly darker and redder than fabric where best preserved; thin, even, matte. Slip was very well smoothed; underside is essentially plain with brush marks.
Preservation description
One sherd preserving ca. 5% of base and small part of lower wall. Slip is worn on interior but preserves original well-smoothed surface in patches. Slight chipping around edges; somewhat worn breaks; wide areas of thin, patchy brownish white encrustation.
