Conservation
1960s: rejoined with natural shellac and infilled with white plaster painted pink.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale pinkish orange fabric, consistently fired; very fine, hard; smooth break. Very rare, small, angular lime inclusions, occasionally spalling; frequent tiny silvery micaceous sparkles visible on surface. Thin, slightly uneven, semimatte slip, pale red with a tinge of orange, over whole interior and dripped over rim. Thin turning spirals on outside and prominent turning grooves; faceted. Exterior carefully smoothed to low gloss. Dense scratches on interior from use.
Preservation comment
Three joining sherds preserve 65% of rim and entire bottom and much of wall. Slight, extensive abrasion and rare scratching; no encrustation (but cleaned in conservation).
