With only the base preserved identification as a Hayes Form 25 cannot be certain as forms 23 through 27 have similar bases. The definitive articulation of the base does suggest form 25 as a reasonable specific identification.
Description
Small cup with flaring foot with tooled offsets. Exterior of base has vertical middle stage with very flat plane above and rounded groove below; lowest curved face has a narrow groove. Underside has flat lowest face with a narrow then a deep groove to inside; central triangular button with narrow groove around. Small incuse stamp at center of floor, inside rectangular field: ΔⲰ[Ρ]ΟΝ (dotted Ⲱ, Ο, Ν). One very light circular groove immediately around stamp; pair of light grooves marks turning to wall.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fine fabric with frequent glistening micaceous bits visible in direct sunlight. Much darker slip, originally thick on all surfaces.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 80% of base, entire floor, and lowest part of wall. Slight, extensive pitting and rare gouging across surface, with large chipping around edges; mostly clean breaks.
