Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: reddish brown core and yellow surface (1+ mm); granular break but laminar at surface; gritty texture; rare, tiny, well sorted, black bits and occasional large, angular black particles visible at surface; very rare, medium small, angular red chunks; very rare, angular, medium, white (calcareous) chunks; rare, subrounded voids. Firing consistent(?). Faint wash across surface. Variable treatment from usual Middle Roman Athenian lamps?
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 35% from top middle to front right of lamp, including roughly one-third of discus and shoulder. Moderate, extensive abrasion, pitting, and flaking; worn edges; very rare specks of encrustation.
