Small amphora. Steep conical neck; rolled rim with convex outside face and sharp inner lip. Loop handles attach at upper neck and rim. Very small graffito in Greek letters, shallow, thin strokes, inscribed after firing, on middle neck: [ ]ΟΙⲤ.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale brown fabric, buff surface wash; consistently fired. Hard, fine; smooth break but slightly gritty texture. Uncommon to common, varrying in density of distribution, tiny dark bits and rare, small, angular white inclusions (calcareous). Wet smoothing on exterior.
Preservation comment
One large fragment preserves ca. 50% of rim and a large part of neck with the upper attachment of one handle. Slight, sparse abrasion with chipping; wrong breaks; thin, sparse patches of encrustation.
