Description
Fragments of a thymaterion in the form of an altar or bomiskos. Tall floral acroterion at top corner; attaching panel has bead and reel molding above alternating rosettes and palmettes with S-shaped scrolls below. Beneath is a dentillated cornice and a cyma recta. The base molding has egg and dart.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fine, somewhat soft, orange buff clay; traces of white paint.
Preservation comment
Three joining fragments (Ke1139a+b+c) preserve roughly one third of upper surface; two nonjoining fragments (Ke1139a/b) preserve roughly one third of base. Slight, sparse abrasion; worn breaks; scattered specks of encrustation in grooves.
