Fabric, firing, and surface description
As far as can be observed through weathering: dark brown fabric; hard, gritty, rough surface9?); mixed, small, inclusions (dark red, black, and white calcareous visible). Uncertain surface finishing. Slightly asymmnetrial upper body circumference: leaning against something in kiln?
Preservation comment
Nine joining sherds preserve complete vessel (broken in recovery from seabed?). Slight, sparse abrasion and chipping; severely worn breaks; thick, irregular, massive marine encrustation, including thick calcareous coat, numerous vermetic casings, and one clam valve attached to lower wall at base. Long marine submersion but near surface.
