Description
Small cup with slightly flaring walls and high, slightly flaring rim. Slight offset or flange separates rim from wall on exterior and gives it a concave profile on exterior. Thickness of wall is variable so that it is essentially straight on exterior but flaring on interior. Small ring foot separated from exterior wall by offset; sloped lower face. End of turning spiral extant in center of inner floor.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Very fine slightly pink fabric with rare inclusions, one chunk exploding on exterior surface. Thin dark red slip is worn and partially missing. Double dipping streak partially preserved.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves ca. 65% of vessel, including full profile and entire base. Slight, extensive abrasion and minor chipping; extensively flaking slip. Weathering consistent with long marine submersion.
