1960s: partial reconstruction of floor and wall with white plaster painted gray.
Description
Small dish with low flaring walls. Interior rim is offset from inner floor by sharp turn and has convex band in upper part; exterior rim is rounded, with well formed sharp turn to base. Lip is flat with slight inward slope and slight exterior bead. Base is formed by flat band where it turns from wall; toward the center of offside, base is defined by an offset, with another offset inside that. Underside of floor is flat. Two tightly spaced concentric grooves toward center of floor; one concentric circle of rouletting toward rim.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves profile, including ca. 20% of handle and ca. 40% of base with adjoining wall. Extensive abrasion and scratching to gouging; surficial erosion removes large patches of slip; worn edges. Weathering consistent with long submersion in marine environment.
