In June 2019 this sherd was found stored with Ke 396-P 89, a “motto jug,” and presumably it comes from the same context, though the excavators did not register the two sherds together. Differences in size and shape show they they belong to two distinct vessels. We therefore added it as a unique object in the inventory-subject series.
Flat disc base, slightly flaring. Ovoid body. Sixteen dots in white paint preserved above stacking line.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Very slightly granular fabric fired to ”light red“ with tiny light inclusions, some quartz. Exterior surface variably darker (10R 5/2, “weak red”), interior same as fabric.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves entire base and roughly 40% of body (lower and middle parts). Slight, sparse abrasion and minor chipping around edges and somewhat work breaks but otherwise surface in good condition.
