Late Roman-Early Byzantine Asia Minor Lamp
Description
Circular outline. Circular, concave discus with raised rim and one filling hole back left. Sloping shoulder with relief of leaf motif(?). Solid handle with two grooves and wide fishtail at back base. Round base with raised band.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Typical fabric (yellowish pink, rare subangular small black fragments and frequent golden mica), firing, and surface treatment (somewhat thick, even, dark red to reddish brown slip).
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves small part of back discus, ca. 10% of back rim, entire handle, and small part of back base. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion; flaking slip; very worn edges; rare specks of encrustation.
