Early/Middle Roman Asia Minor Lamp, Knidian
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale orange with tinge of yellow; slip reddish orange; consistently fired. Fine, hard; smooth break. Common, well sorted, tiny, mixed bits (white, dark, red?); rare, small, angular, lime particles; one large, angular chunk of terracotta crypted(?); golden micaceous. Somewhat thick, even slip, semilustrous with faint metallic sheen, over outside and spread within dripping into part of interior. Knidian.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves entire handles and small part of adjacent shoulder. Very slight, sparse abrasion and chipping around edges; edges slightly worn; otherwise surface in good condition.
