Description
Solid spike toe tapers downward to flat bottom, marked by widening into knob at base. Spirally turned. Wide to cylindrical lower body.
Fabric, firing, surface
SCA Fabric C: red to reddish brown; hard, vaguely coarse with sandy texture: uncommon, small, subangular, somewhat well sorted, lime and quartzite particles; rare, varied, tiny dark (gray, red, rarely black) bits; mostly silvery micaceous. Eastern Aegean/western Asia Minor.
Preservation description
One large sherd preserves entire toe and small part of lower wall. Slight, somewhat extensive abrasion and a few large chips; thick patches of encrustation around lower part; gray discoloration on exterior appears to be scorched concretion.
