Late Roman Cooking Ware
Description
Globular body. Everted, slightly thickened rim has rounded lip; sharp transition from rim to wall marked by groove. Oval handle attaches to rim.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric core: 2.5YR 4/6 (red); exterior surface: grayish reddish brown. Granular fabric has frequent, small to medium, angular, light inclusions including chunks of “lime“ and red bits, some embedded in surface; hackly fracture. Consistently fired.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves ca. 20% of rim, body, and one intact handle. Slight, sparse abrasion and chipping; clean breaks; sparse specks to small patches of encrustation.
