Phocaean Red-Slip Hayes Form 10A
Description
Large bowl with slightly curving(?) walls. Somewhat flat upper, slightly rounded outer, and rounded to concave lower faces. Faint groove on interior and low, blunt offset below rim on exterior mark articulation with wall.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric and surface treatment typical for ware. Light orange-red fabric with few tiny light inclusions. Thin matte slip on all extant surfaces is essentially same color as fabric.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 8% of rim and small part of upper wall. Slight, extensive abrasion but mostly sharp breaks; extensive, thick encrustation.
