Late Roman Amphora 2
Description
Rounded shoulder. Tall, slightly bulging, truncoconical neck. Flaring, convex rim has rounded lip with slight groove made by finger just below on inner face. Vertical loop handle, oval to elliptical in section, attaches at middle of neck and at shoulder. Fine combing up shoulder at lower handle attachment.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Standard LRA2 southern Argolid fabric, firing, and surface treatment: pale slip.
Preservation comment
One large fragment preserves entire rim, most of neck, roughly one quarter of upper body, and one handle. Very slight spots of abrasion and pitting, clean breaks; specks to extensive patches of encrustation.
