Typological identification
Late Roman Amphora 2 Small
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Standard LRA2 Southern Argolid fabric, firing, and surface treatment: slightly coarse, hard, with granular to hackly break; uncommon, small, rounded, lime bits; uncommon, medium to large, subangular and subrounded, lime chunks fired yellow, some with white shell, a few spalling; pale brownish orange fabric fired in reduction to dark gray at surfaces (2mm). Wet smoothing around neck; brush marks around exterior rim.
Preservation comment
Three joining sherds (0837+0843+0849) preserves 50% of rim. Slight chipping around edges; somewhat worn breaks; thin film of encrustation. Patches of secondary burning especially around handle.
