Amphora or jar. Vertical loop handle with oval to rectangular section, grooved on inner face and side. Simple palm leaf design incised on upper outer face of handle.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale red; slightly coarse, hard, with smooth to slightly granular break; uncommon, small to medium, rounded, lime particles and uncommon, well sorted, tiny bits (red or brown, gray, and rarely black); surface shows thin, uneven wash slightly more brown than fabric. Brushstrokes across outer face of handle.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves one entire handle with lower attachment at shoulder. Slight, sparse abrasion and chipping around edges; slightly worn breaks; extensive, thin film of encrustation.
