Solid spike; thin tapering lower body. Patch of dark pitch on interior.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Dark brown fabric fired lighter red at very surface. Hard, slightly coarse; somewhat smooth to vaguely conchoidal break; poorly sorted, common, tiny to small, mostly light (calcareous and quartzitic) inclusions; varied tiny dark bits; rare small flecks of mica; irregular voids at surface from organic temper. Very light, wide, spiralling band. Nile alluvial clay.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves most of toe, but missing tip, and small part of lower wall. Extensive, moderate abrasion and gouging; very worn breaks; extensive, thin encrustation. Slight clouding from post-depositional burning.
