- Description
- Solid spike; thin tapering lower body. Patch of dark pitch on interior.
- Fabric, firing, and surface description
- Dark brown fabric fired lighter red at very surface. Hard, slightly coarse; somewhat smooth to vaguely conchoidal break; poorly sorted, common, tiny to small, mostly light (calcareous and quartzitic) inclusions; varied tiny dark bits; rare small flecks of mica; irregular voids at surface from organic temper. Very light, wide, spiralling band. Nile alluvial clay.
- Preservation comment
- One sherd preserves most of toe, but missing tip, and small part of lower wall. Extensive, moderate abrasion and gouging; very worn breaks; extensive, thin encrustation. Slight clouding from post-depositional burning.
