Samos Cistern Amphora
Fabric, firing, and surface description
SCA Fabric 3: dark reddish brown; hard, slightly gritty; granular break; uncommon to common(?), tiny to small, mostly white to offwhite (calcareous and quartzitic?) and fewer red to gray inclusions; flecks of silvery mica. Cf. LRA3 Ephesian fabric. Eastern Aegean-western Asia Minor.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves lower part of toe. Slight, sparse(?) abrasion; worn breaks; thick, extensive encrustation.
