Transitional form with rim that leans more 3G: mid-late 6th c.
Description
Large bowl. Curving upper body. Squared rim with widely overhanging flange below, slightly convex outer face, and sloping top; somewhat indistinct offset from wall and rim on interior; no offset under rim.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale red fabric; hard, slightly gritty, with tiny lime specks. Thin, matte slip, brownish red, on all extant surfaces. Fine brushing marks on interior; deep turning grooves on exterior. Classic LRC fabric.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves 10% of rim and small part of upper wall. Slight, sparse abrasion and spots of chipping; mostly clean breaks; slight patches of encrustation. Traces of secondary scorching?
