Late Roman Amphora 6
Description
Convex body; flat ridging on exterior. Large spiral painted on upper wall.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Reddish brown fabric fired darker gray on exterior and brown on interior. Hard, somewhat coarse fabric with uncommon to common, small to medium-sized, subrounded to subangular, black and white inclusions, rare chunks of lime exploding on surface; rare subrounded voids. Yellowish white, thin, dull paint brushed on lightly and unevenly.
Preservation comment
One small body sherd. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion and scraping; worn breaks; thin, widespread encrustation. Possibly from same vessel as KTH1389.
