Bonifay2004 Sigillée type 55 variante B/C (mid-6th-7th c.); not a perfect C because the rim is somewhat heavy.
Description
Bowl. Straight upper wall curves in slightly downward. Rolled rim with tapered, rounded lip.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Somewhat fine fabric with rare, small, subrounded, white inclusions. Thick matte slip on interior has broad turning marks; thinner with finer turning marks on exterior. Slip is somewhat darker, more reddish brown. Not Oudhna production.
Preservation comment
One small sherd preserves 9% of rim and small part of upper body. Slight, sparse abrasion and pitting; clean breaks; somewhat slight, extensive film and specks of encrustation on surface and heavy on breaks. Traces of burning across surface.
