Description
Excess clay on rim and uppermost extant shoulder.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Slightly granular fabric, reddish brown, with occasional large irregular lime and frequent small to very small subangular and rounded lime, some very small darker to dark bits. Exterior surface has distinct thin wash, paler than fabric; interior surfaces plain. The fabric of this piece can in general be distinguished from the more usual LRA4 fabric by being harder fired and having more frequent inclusions; it is close to LRA5 fabrics in the assemblage.
Preservation comment
Two joining sherds (1530+1819) preserve 32% of rim and small part of upper shoulder. Slight, sparse abrasion and chipping around edges; slightly worn breaks; no significant encrustation.
