JLR: shape of rim seems to look forward to shorter, more simple and vertical necks of 8th-10th centuries.
Fabric, firing, surface
Light chocolate brown with faintly gray core at thickened wall. Hard, coarse; hackly break with rough surface texture. Common, tiny, white bits (calcareous?); rare, irregular black flecks; rare, elongated vegetal voids. Cf. 1881. Lower Egyptian.
Preservation comment
One small sherd preserves ca. 8% of rim and neck. Slight, sparse abrasion and nicking around edges; slightly worn breaks; widespread, thin encrustation.
