This inventory number KTH2016 had been mistakenly assigned to two objects, this mortar rim sherd and an LRA2 rim sherd. The LRA2 sherd was re-assigned as KTH2306.

Description
Shallow bowl with somewhat thick wall. Flange or projecting collar just below short rim. Rim has inward sloping upper face and sharp lip. Upper face of the flange has two light, wide grooves forming slight ridge at center; outer edge flange is near rectangular though corners are blunt.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pinkish orange core; brownish buff surface with thin traces of white film brushed on all surfaces (saline water in preparation). Slightly granular, dense fabric with rare, small sandy inclusions (quartzitic), very small, very rare, subangular black bits, and rare to uncommon, small, subrounded lime.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves 8% of flanged rim and small part of upper body. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion and chipping around edges; worn breaks.
