Typological identification
Middle Roman Athenian Lamp, unglazed
Description
Circular to slightly oval outline. Circular, concave discus with double raised rim. Broad, slightly rounded shoulder has panel at lateral axis and pattern of 8 spirals/4 dots in low relief.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
7.5YR 7/6, reddish level. Standard Middle Roman Athenian fabric: smooth, somewhat soft fabric with rare, very small, subangular to subrounded, black and white inclusions; very rare, very small voids. Unslipped.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves small part of discus and shoulder. Moderate, extensive abrasion.
