Heavy dense fabric, slightly granular, with frequent very small light inclusions (very visible in dark fabric) and tiny glistening quartz, occasional reddish and light larger inclusions. Surface fired red (2.5YR 6/4, “light reddish brown”), with many inclusions showing through worn thin wash. Knob is accentuated at top, with mostly flat upper face, very slightly oval in profile from above, though chipped. Prominent plug under knob.
