Rim with upper part of neck, discolored by marine exposure. High neck with short thickened rim, rounded outer profile. Fabric now gray, with thin reddish brown surface; the thin wash was pale but now almost entirely gone.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Brown fired reddish brown at surface (<1 mm), but weathered gray over breaks; somewhat fine, soft(?), slightly hackly break; uncommon to common, small, well sorted, subrounded to angular, mixed white to gray inclusions. Thin, pale wash but poorly preserved.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves 20% of rim and middle to upper neck. Extensive, slight abrasion and erosion and shallow gouges; worn breaks; wide but sparse patches of encrustation. Weathering consistent with prolonged marine submersion.
