Flat pantile (tegula), thick walled, with thin film of mortar on bottom from attachment to roof. Tall, thick (0.025 m) flange/rim along edge, rounded over top. Slight scoring on bottom and outside surfaces. Patches of mortar on underside from attachment to roof.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Buff with a tinge of red (2.5YR 7/6). Dense, soft, slightly coarse fabric, gritty, with infrequent, very small, red, black, and white inclusions and rare larger “lime“ chunks, a few exploding at the surface. Very thin, dull, even slip same color as fabric painted on exterior. Cf. KTH2370. Note: this is not a Greek fabric (cf. Koutsongila, Corinth); appears Roman.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves part of tile with one finished edge. Does not join with KTH2370. Slight, sparse erosion, abrasion, and pitting; slight film of encrustation.
