Piriform unguentarium
Description
Piriform body.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale reddish brown with a tinge of pink, fired slightly darker on exterior; thin wash. Fine, hard; smooth break. uncommon to common, small, irregular white (calcareous) bits; no visible mica. Possibly regional. Prominent internal wheel ridging; exterior shows faint smoothing bands.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves small part of body from just above base almost to shoulder. Slight, sparse abrasion and scattered scratching; worn breaks; rare, small specks of encrustation.
