This pitcher rim sherd was previously identified as KTH1769, a number that was mistakenly assigned to two objects from the same container, the other being a pitcher base. Therefore this rim sherd was re-assigned as KTH2430.
Yellowish red fired to pale brownish gray at surfaces (<1mm). Slightly coarse, hard; vaguely granular break, with rough surface. Common, tiny to small, well sorted, mostly rounded, white and offwhite particles; rare, tiny red and gray bits; very rare golden micaceous sparkles. Regional cooking ware.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves 16% of rim and small part of upper neck. Heavy, extensive abrasion and minor chipping; worn breaks; thin, extensive film of encrustation.
