Typological identification
Rooftile
Description
Large Laconian rooftile, probably regional manufacture. Slightly inward sloping outer margin; widens slightly away from margin. Light cross-scoring on interior and longitudinal grooves(?) on exterior.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Buff with a reddish tinge. Hard, fine fabric with rare, very small, subrounded black and white inclusions (regional). Thin, matte, even wash same color as fabric.
Preservation comment
One fragment preserves large partion of tile with two finished edges. Slight chipping around edges and slight, sparse pitting and gouging on exterior surface; slight, extensive encrustation and traces of mortar.
