Early-Middle Roman Italian Lamp
Description
Steeply sloping wall. Circular base with wide, low base ring.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale buff, almost white; fine, soft, smooth breaking; slightly more gritty and with more voids than usual; uncommon, small, subangular and angular black bits and very rare lime specks. Slip: reddish brown with tinge of yellow where thin. Thin, somewhat uneven, semimatte slip, mottled and flaking in small bits, covers exterior and base.
Preservation comment
One fragment preserves less than one quarter of wall and base. Slight, sparse abrasion.
