2007 (July 4): cleaned mechanically and mended with Acryloid B-72 in mild acetone solution (Dimitra Miza).
Description
Circular, concave discus has central filling hole with broad rim and ring, rays, small airhole at bottom, and prominent framing ring. Broad, slightly sloping shoulder has large ovules (nine per side) with double circles flanking nozzle and handle. Long kite-shaped nozzle. Ring handle has two grooves. Body below suture is rounded down to base.
Fabric, firing, surface
10YR 7/4, very pale brown. Early-Middle Roman Corinthian lamp fabric: buff; fine.
Preservation description
Eleven large joining fragments preserve >75% of top but nozzle is missing. Slight, sparse abrasion with pitting; clean breaks; traces of encrustation.
