Description
Circular discus has relief of two spindly legs and long feet in profile (grotesque figure?), raised rim, and two prominent, flat framing rings. Sloping to rounded plain shoulder. This type has volute nozzle.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 10YR 7/4, very pale brown. Slip: 2.5YR 6/8, light red, to 5YR 5/6, yellowish red. Hard, dense, fine, slightly porous fabric; white particles and varied dark bits. Lustrous slip varies in thickness. Italian.
Preservation description
Two nonjoining fragments preserve 25% of discus and small part of shoulder. Slight, sparse abrasion and marginal chipping; somewhat worn breaks; rare traces of encrustation.
In mass of Roman sherds and other debris against upper/west face of Wall A1, where they accumulated with downslope movement and/or with disposal by users of adjacent passageway.
