Description
Circular, concave, plain(?) discus with rounded framing ring. Slightly sloping shoulder has single row of oblique leaves (seven per side) and single circle on either side of handle. This type has one double circle on each side of upper corners of nozzle. Short, rounded nozzle with heart-shaped rim(?); traces of burning. Narrow, pierced handle has two grooves. Flat base has circular groove around incuse double circle at center.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 5YR 7/6, reddish yellow. Slip: 5YR 6/6, reddish yellow, to 5YR 4/4, reddish brown. Somewhat hard, medium fine but faintly gritty texture or granular break; uncommon to common, tiny to small, poorly sorted, mostly white (lime) but also darker (gray? red?) bits. Thin, even, mottled slip, flaky; cf. KL169 and KL166. Corinthian but relatively unrefined.
Preservation description
Seven large fragments, four joining, preserve entire handle, 75% of shoulder, ca. 50% of base, and small parts of discus and nozzle. Slight, extensive abrasion and rare chipping; worn breaks; scattered, small patches of encrustation.
