Description
Circular, concave, plain(?) discus with rounded framing ring. Slightly sloping shoulder has single row of oblique leaves (seven per side) and single circle on either side of handle. This type has one double circle on each side of upper corners of nozzle. Short, rounded nozzle with heart-shaped rim(?); traces of burning. Narrow, pierced handle has two grooves. Flat base has circular groove around incuse double circle at center.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 5YR 7/6, reddish yellow. Slip: 5YR 6/6, reddish yellow, to 5YR 4/4, reddish brown. Early-Middle Roman Corinthian lamp fabric: very fine. Thin, even, mottled slip, flaky; cf. KL169 and KL166. Small clay nodules in grooves.
Preservation comment
Seven large fragments, four joining, preserve entire handle, 75% of shoulder, ca. 50% of base, and small parts of discus and nozzle. Slight encrustation.
