Description
Circular outline. Circular, slightly concave discus with framing ring has large central hole, inner row of 9 or 10 small, raised, double circles, and outer row of 11 or 12 medallions with rosettes(?) in relief. Broad, nearly flat shoulder has angled, radiating ridges that end in globules and between them one or two columns of three to six or seven raised double circles, often stamped over ridges. Large wickhole; traces of burning. Wide, conical, peglike handle on shoulder.
Fabric, firing, surface
10R 6/6, light red, to 10R 4/3, weak red. Gray top: firing cloud? Late Corinthian red lamp fabric: hard, dense, and brick-like.
Preservation description
One fragment preserves entire discus, >50% of shoulder, and small part of handle. Slight, extensive abrasion; slightly worn breaks; sparse, small patches of encrustation.
