Description
Circular outline. Circular, slightly concave discus with framing ring has large central hole, inner row of 9 or 10 small, raised, double circles, and outer row of 11 or 12 medallions with rosettes(?) in relief. Broad, nearly flat shoulder has angled, radiating ridges that end in globules and between them one or two columns of three to six or seven raised double circles, often stamped over ridges. Large wickhole; traces of burning. Slight joining ridge. Wide, conical, peglike handle on shoulder. Forms in relief are uneven and the placement of circles seems in places indiscriminate.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
10R 6/6, light red, to 10R 4/3, weak red. Gray top: firing cloud? Late Corinthian red lamp fabric but hard, dense, and brick-like.
Preservation comment
One fragment preserves entire discus, over one-half of shoulder, and small part of handle. Slight abrasion; traces of encrustation.
