Description
Royal Hellenic Army cap badge. Wreath of elliptical leaves, tied at bottom, surmounted by jeweled crown terminating in double orbs. Within wreath and suspended from crown is central medallion with braided frame originally painted with blue enamel. Cockade worn on caps of Greek infantry from World War I until fall of the Junta and end of the monarchy (A.D. 1914–1974). Comparanda on internet market belong to later end of that date range, during the Civil War and after.
Preservation comment
Intact but lacking attachment pin on back and slightly bent at upper right edge.
