Description
Spent Italian bullet casing with rimless bottleneck shape. Flat base with ring and groove around primer pocket has headstamp: SMI | 936. 6.5 × 52 mm Carcano cartridge manufactured in 1936 by La Società Metallurgica Italiana in Campo Tizzoro, Tuscany. Carcano cases were developed in Italy in late 19th century but used until mid-20th century for standard infantry ordnance in small-bore rifles. Both Italian and German troops occupying Greece used this ammunition during World War II.
Preservation description
Intact, but rim of neck bent slightly outward. Moderate, extensive encrustation.
