Description
Pomegranate vase. Cylindrical stem and flat disk resting surface projecting slightly beyond shaft. Six painted bands around circumference of shaft and traces of additional concentric rings on resting surface. Late Geometric/Early Protocorinthian Style. Opposite end preserves trace of flaring lower wall of vase.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 7.5YR 8/2, pinkish white. Slip: 5YR 3/1, very dark gray. Soft, very fine fabric with frequent, very small, white (calcareous) and black inclusions. Thin, even, dull slip, flaky. Corinthian.
Preservation description
One large fragment preserves most of stem and trace of lower wall. Extensive abrasion and chipping; very worn breaks; slight patches of encrustation.
