Hellenistic Moldmade Bowl (“Megarian Bowl”)
Description
Molded relief ware: long-petal bowl. Glazed all over. Wall: independent long petals with raised centers and jeweling around entire petal. Rim: zone framed below by single line of jeweling. Fabric and pattern suggest import.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 2.5YR 8/4, pink. Slip: 2.5YR 3/1, dark reddish gray. Hard, very fine fabric with rare, very small, black inclusions. Thick, even, semilustrous slip, flaky.
Preservation description
One small fragment preserves small part of upper body. Slight abrasion; slight, sparse encrustation.
