Middle-Late Roman amphora produced in central Tunisia with a wide distribution chiefly in the western Mediterranean. Tall, cylindrical body with steep, sloping shoulder and solid, knobbed spike; conical neck with narrow, squared, collar rim; vertical loop handles, oval in section, in shape of ear. Manacorda and Bonifay identified subtypes based on variation in shape of rim. Typical Tunisian fabric: hard, granular, reddish or orange, with saline wash.
