Description
Middle portion of large pan tile or brick. Middle to left end of manufactured stamp preserved on one face. One side has part of the right end of manufacturing stamp. Rectangular panel (D. 0.006) encloses ligature in shape of Latin M that combines two A’s joined at bottom of diagonal hastas; outside diagonals have sharp serifs. In general the letters are finely rendered.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
7.5YR 8/2, pink, but outer surface is slightly lighter. Somewhat hard, fine to slightly gritty fabric with rare to uncommon, very small, rounded to subangular, white and black inclusions and very few, very small voids.
Preservation comment
One small fragment broken on all sides preserves top and bottom. Slight, extensive chipping around edges; slight, extensive encrustation. Stamped letters are clearly legible.
