Description
Circular, concave discus has relief of scallop shell, raised rim, and prominent, flat framing ring. Flat, plain shoulder with rounded rim. Volute nozzle.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/4, light reddish brown. Slip: 2.5YR 5/4, reddish brown (slightly darker in places). Hard, fine, micaceous, slightly porous fabric with uniform consistency and scattered small white to dull yellow inclusions. Somewhat thick, even, semilustrous slip. Sparse, large clay nodules. Knidian.
Preservation comment
Four fragments, three joining, preserve roughly three-quarters of discus and one-half of shoulder. Slight to moderate erosion on right side; sparse encrustation.
