Description
Tear-shaped outline. Tear-shaped, concave discus with raised rim has relief of cross monogram with rho closed left, flaring arms, and double circles at ends and at intersection of arms; holes in quadrants. Sloping shoulder has wavy lines. This type has rounded nozzle flanked by double angled grooves. Short, narrow, pierced handle has two grooves and shows misalignment at suture; lower handle has flanking grooves. Flat base has two almond-shaped grooves around incuse signature reading nozzle to handle: [ ]Ⲉ. Probably read [Θ]Ⲉ for ΘⲈ(ΟΔΟΥΛΟΥ).
Fabric, firing, surface
2.5YR 7/6, light red (interior) to 5YR 6/4, light reddish brown (exterior). Hard, smooth, fine fabric. Unglazed.
Preservation comment
Two large joining fragments preserve >50% of discus, shoulder, handle, and base.
