Description
Circular, concave discus has relief of scallop shell, raised rim, and prominent flat framing ring. Plain shoulder with rounded rim. Volute nozzle with incomplete slit for airhole between volutes. Narrow, pierced handle off-axis with two uneven grooves above and one below. Flat, circular base with single incised groove.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 5YR 6/4, light reddish brown. Slip: 2.5YR 5/8, red. Hard, fine, slightly porous fabric with uniform consistency and rare to uncommon, small, spherical to subrounded, white inclusions. Thin, dull slip preserved in large patches. Knidian.
Preservation description
Two joining fragments preserve ca. 33% of discus, ca. 50% of shoulder, entire handle, and base of nozzle. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion; worn breaks; sparse encrustation.
